Our culture seems to exist in an aura of some level of anxiety. Creativity can lower that anxiety and relieve stress better than anything I know – along with physical exercise in the fresh air.
To help relieve everyday stress and anxiety, many people get lost or immersed in something so interesting to them that they have no sense of time or what’s going on around them. Perhaps it’s a book or knitting or painting that pulls in a person’s entire soul. For us that thing is creating something – anything. Painting, writing, stitching, photographing or working with clay. My husband Robert recently retired and joined me in my little shop on Magazine St.; however, he was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer and we had to immediately change our priorities and plans.
